Etsy Sales: 2 paintings in 2 days

I have sold 2 works from my Etsy shop in 2 days. One to a buyer in Canada and another in the United States. It sure does feel good when I sell a work of art. Not only for the money I get to make but for the fact that someone saw my work and loved it so much as to buy it.

For someone trying to promote her art from the most disadvantaged continent on earth where the resources that come so easily to 3/4 of the worlds’ population (who take it for granted) come at a great cost; both financially and physically; selling art online is indeed a feat to be very proud of. And I give God all the glory.

A lot of artists have been complaining about a drop in the number of Internet sales they have been having recently and I count myself very lucky to make a sale (sales).

My sales have been slow to come but I know they will increase over time. I understand it is not easy buying art because not only are they expensive but most times “you” the buyer is almost always confronted by the fact that you are buying from someone you have never met before.

That is one reason why I try to make myself known and I always strive to remove the impersonal nature that creating relationships over the Internet can have. I always encourage my readers and potential clients to go through my resume and biography in order to know more about me.

As an artist, the joy in creating becomes richer and fuller when someone shares in it through your work of art. I encourage you to be part of creation.

I see more and more that my work goes infinitely better when I am properly fed, and the paints are there, and the studio and all that. But have I set my heart on my work being a success? A thousand times no. I wish I could manage to make you really understand that when you give money to artists, you are yourself doing an artist’s work, and that I only want my pictures to be of such a quality that you will not be too dissatisfied with your work

Slowly getting into a perfect rhythm. Only wish I could post more often. I will get there somehow and someday.

So much has been happening and I don’t know where to start. More of my paintings were featured in several Etsy treasuries by some wonderful artists on Etsy. Still looking to make sales though. I know it’ll take time and I’m being patient.

SOLD

It has been a very hectic week and carrying my increasing weight around has been a challenge that I look forward to everyday. Never knew there would be a time I would feel so comfortable being fat. So comfortable to the point that I would actually joyfully flaunt it. It sure is a thing of great joy watching the way one’s body changes so much in order to accommodate a growing life. For me it is the most wonderful part of God’s creation. A feet that no man has been able to emulate and one that every living being should appreciate.

As artists we struggle to create little things which are often never complicated but our Father in heaven has shown us time and time again that He alone is the master creator. The painting above is an oil painting; one of the very many created under the influence of strong hormones. It was painted entirely with a palette knife and I can comfortably say that every knife stroke was made in unison with every kick in my womb.

I was featured again in another ETSY treasury. Do make out time to visit and click away.  Very many thanks to Elizabeth Graf who is also a wonderful artist.

Today’s a really wonderful day in a lot of ways. First it is Valentine’s day: the day to show love. And secondly, I woke up this morning to discover 2 of my paintings are  featured in 2 Etsy treasury lists. Being new to Etsy, there’s so much that I do not know and “Treasuries” are some of them. But I’ve heard a lot about them and I know that a lot of people struggle to get one and better still many are happy when their item is featured in a treasury.

I came across this article that explained to a good extent what treasuries are all about and how one can go about getting it. At the end of the day it turned out that it actually does merit all the hype that has been placed on it. According to the article,

“A Treasury is a member-curated gallery of short-lived lists of 12 hand-picked items each (plus four alternates). It functions as a high-demand (and pretty!) promotional tool that many devoted Etsians fight to get. Members can feature their favorite items, items selected on a theme, or just however they like. The Treasury is not intended for self-promotion, but instead to acknowledge and share the many cool things for sale on Etsy.”

“The Etsy Home Page rotates  many times daily and is selected from a Treasury List or curated by Admin. The Admins choose their favorite lists to feature on the front page”

It sure does feel good knowing that someone liked my work enough to put it in a treasury. And the best part of the treasury is that it is visible to the public.

Please do make out time to visit the treasuries and click on my paintings to view them. Comments about the treasury are also allowed (and would be appreciated!!). They are here
