Original Mixed Media ACEO painting
2.5″ x 3.5″

I have been experimenting with making ACEO art with plastic beads. This is one of the results and there are many more to come. I love diversity. It gives me some form of joy when I make something different each time. It makes me want to go back again and again to my easel. It increases my appetitie for creating.
The above ACEO was made with Acrylic paint and plastic bead on gessoed matt board. For all my ACEOs I use gessoed matt board (also known as mounting board). I coat both sides with acrylic gesso primer. This makes it stronger and gives it tooth. There are a lot of materials that can be used to create ACEO art. The only rule is that it must be 2.5″ x 3.5″.

Interesting article and one which should be more widely known about in my view. Your level of detail is good and the clarity of writing is excellent. I have bookmarked it for you so that others will be able to see what you have to say.

This sounds pretty good. I’ve never heard of ACEO before. I know a bunch of ladies at my church that would be interested in this article. Thanks!

Thank Matt. ACEOs are fun to work with. And they are perfect for trying out new techniques and media.
