Happy Easter

As we celebrate the ressurection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, may we always remember His death and suffering……………what He did just for you and I. And may this season be the source of endless joy and happiness in our lives.

The patient and humble endurance of the Cross - whatever nature it may be - is the highest work we have to do.

St Katherine Drexel

The Son of God. . . worked with human hands; he thought with a human mind. He acted with a human will, and with a human heart he loved. Born of the Virgin Mary, he has truly been made one of us, like to us in all things except sin.

This is from one of the several pictures I took while on a trip to Shakawe, a town near the border between Botswana and Namibia. There were children fishing in the small pond but I left them out in this painting. Will put them in the bigger one I intend to do someday.

What caught my attention was the reflections the vegetation at the side of the pool made in the still water. I dunno why I am always fascinated by reflections seen in water. They almost always look very surreal and still. Qualities I long to imbibe.

This is another painting of a strange dog that came up to me and felt so safe and relaxed beside me as I stood at a bus stop. I see a lot of beauty in these creatures and I sometimes wish all human beings can be like dogs. Dale Carnegie, in his book: How to win friends and influence people; used a dog to describe how we ought to be in other to win people over. And I couldn’t agree with him more.

I love it when they wag their tails in joy and anticipation. And no matter what you do they will always come running to you anytime you get home…………….always happy to see you. Come to think of it: why can’t we all strive to be like that? Wouldn’t the world be a much better place to live in?

Finally…………..

Wildlife paintings

It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important than the feeling for pictures.

Slowly getting into a perfect rhythm. Only wish I could post more often. I will get there somehow and someday.  So much has been happening and I don’t know where to start. More of my paintings were featured in several Etsy treasuries by some wonderful artists on Etsy. Still looking to make sales though. I know it’ll take time and I’m being patient.

The fine art of painting, which is the bastard of alchemy, always has been always will be, a game. The rules of the game are quite simple: in a given arena, on as many psychic fronts as the talent allows, one must visually describe, the centre of the meaning of existense.

Things have been a bit slow with my blog and the number of times I post has reduced drastically………………..not that I’ve ran out of steam or content but just that finding the time to post has been very difficult lately. I am pretty sure that I’ll soon find my rhythm again.

One of my works was featured in yet another treasury on Etsy. Do make out time to view it here. Make as many clicks as possible and your comments would be greatly appreciated.

May her soul rest in peace

With my Grandma a few days before my wedding

2 days ago when I picked up the phone to call my mum, I least expected to be told that my Grandma was dead. Apparently she died early that morning and though my mum sent a message telling me, I never got it. Somehow I felt a big urge to call home. Little did I know that I truly felt her death. She was 92 years old and though death at that age is considered a thing of joy because many of us may never get the privilege of living that long; one still can’t deny the fact that it is still painful to loose a loved one.

I saw her last a few days before my wedding in December 2007. I believe so much in the blessings of parents, thus I made sure I made out time in between the preparations for my wedding to take my then husband-to-be to her and get her blessings. Though she had been bedridden for years and could not speak she was always able to recognize me and her face always lighted up whenever she saw me.

Introducing my man to my grandmother

She was so happy when I introduced my husband-to-be to her. She shook so visibly and tears welled up in her eyes. Though we could not make out what she was saying we felt the strength of her blessings as she poured it out on us the best way she could. Little did I know that that was going to be the very last time I would see my beloved grandma.

One thing is for sure and that is time waits for no one. Whatever we can do to let someone know we love him/her, we should do it now because a life filled with regrets is definitely not a happy one to live.

I pray that God continues to strengthen each and every one of us who has to go through the loss of a loved one. For my mother and her siblings, I pray for God’s strength and grace to bear the loss of their mother.

May the soul of my grandmother and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in perfect peace

Amen

It has been a very hectic week and carrying my increasing weight around has been a challenge that I look forward to everyday. Never knew there would be a time I would feel so comfortable being fat. So comfortable to the point that I would actually joyfully flaunt it. It sure is a thing of great joy watching the way one’s body changes so much in order to accommodate a growing life. For me it is the most wonderful part of God’s creation. A feet that no man has been able to emulate and one that every living being should appreciate.

As artists we struggle to create little things which are often never complicated but our Father in heaven has shown us time and time again that He alone is the master creator. The painting above is an oil painting; one of the very many created under the influence of strong hormones. It was painted entirely with a palette knife and I can comfortably say that every knife stroke was made in unison with every kick in my womb.

I was featured again in another ETSY treasury. Do make out time to visit and click away.  Very many thanks to Elizabeth Graf who is also a wonderful artist.
